Glaucoma drainage devices superior to trabeculectomy at lowering intraocular pressure after Penetrating Keratoplasty

At final follow-up, successful intraocular pressure outcomes ("<"22 mm Hg) were achieved in 58.3% of the trabeculectomy-only group, and 86.7% of the glaucoma drainage device (GDD) group (P=0.047). Complications were similar among the groups, but the GDD group showed a trend toward lower graft survival rates. The findings suggest that GDDs offer favorable IOP control after PK but carry a higher tendency for graft failure. Cornea, June 2018
