Since our founding in 2001, our goal has always been to provide the very best ophthalmic care to all our patients, whether they need highly specialized surgery or undiagnosed pathology. At our Institute, we are committed to serve timely and complete personalized care combined with maximum comfort, convenience, and privacy. Our advanced technology ensures complete diagnosis and treatment for every patient.

Istanbul RETINA Institute offers a comprehensive approach to ophthalmology. The range of diseases that we study widely extends from retinopathy of prematurity affecting young children to age-related macular degeneration. We have intenition to treat a variety of retinal conditions and complications by performing the leading edge procedures in order to ensure the best outcomes.

We are very pleased to receive regular referral patients from different cities of Turkey and countries of the region for diagnosis and treatment. Besides our core team, we have a network of consultants to address the patient's complete needs during their care in our clinics.

Our core facilities and available expertise enable us to make our own documentation and conduct research projects. We strive to continue our publications and share our experience.

As part of its commitment to education and training, Istanbul RETINA Institute offers fellowship opportunities to qualified doctors in ophthalmology. These very select graduates are offered a two years employment at Institue. Fellows are mentored by the senior staff and encouraged to take part in research and clinical trial activities during their training.

We will always continue a tradition of research, education and healing while providing each patient with excellent, comprehensive eye care.

Prof.Murat Karacorlu

History

Prof Murat Karacorlu, co-founder & deputy head from the period of its foundation (1989) till its termination (2002) and lecturer in Department of Ophthalmology of Istanbul University Cerrahpasa School of Medicine, resigned his position in Department of Ophthalmology in the faculty in early 2000’s in order to establish his own academic institution and pursue his career there. Later he and Associated Prof Serra Arf incorporated a company together with the name of Istanbul Retina Institute Inc. that was linked to Istanbul Chamber of Trade. The clinic was registered as the branch center in ophthalmology by Ministry of Health.

The objectives of this institution are to conduct clinical trials, do scientific researches and run post-doctorate fellowship programs. Since its foundation the Istanbul RETINA Institute has organized some post-doctorate programs and brought up so many ophthalmologists in Turkey. In the field of research it has been very productive institute as well. Every year meaningful amount of papers were published in SCI accepted journals and taken so many citations. The Istanbul RETINA Institute will carry on its successful performance and contribute a lot to medicine in the country as well as in the states of geographical region.
